Why Trike Flying ?

Learning to fly a two axis trike is like no other aircraft.

When you first see a trike it looks just like a hang glider perched on top of a tricycle. Then on inspection it looks like a hang glider held in place by a bolt with a tricycle with a couple of seats and an engine. How will this fly you may ask.

Well for those that have only seen them in the air they are graceful,, they look like big birds and seem to fly quite slowly. They look exciting and for most a little intimidating.

So why fly a trike?

For even those that have only experienced one flight in a trike the thrill of being at one with the air is life changing. There will never be a day when you look up that the freedom you have tasted does not flood back like a cherished dream. The moment you took off and the instructor allowed you to hold the bar you could feel the small smooth forces transferred to your hands from the air and thermals as you drifted through them.

You can remember pushing the bar forward to go up pull it back to go down (or so it seemed). You can remember pulling the bar gently to the right to go into a left turn and vise versa. The exhilaration when you got out of the Trike and knew you too just had to tell someone how fantastic it was. That you found yourself telling everyone how great it was and were booking your next flight as soon as possible.

There is a lot of skill required to fly a trike, and we all started from our first flight. We all waited patiently for the time to come when we took or first anticipated steps in the air on our dreamed of solo. The realization we were pilots joining the long line of aviators who we continue to revere.

Why a trike?

Just ask yourself after your trial flight, it's easy, there is nothing that can compare in sheer smile factor!
