What will it Cost

A little time and a lot of smiles

Some paper work and flying too

Some hanger talk and some from you

But best of all the cost is small

Because as a pilot you tend to walk tall

Well it takes and average of 10-15 hours of instruction which at $135 an hour equates to who cares the car depreciated that much when we drove out of the dealership!

Let's be honest though flying means at some stage you will want to fly solo in your own aircraft. We will help you with the options you have and look at the types of aircraft available. We can also try and find partners if you want a shared ownership. But all this adds up.

The current costs dependent on your ability to learn and master the required skills takes from 15hours of dual time. Some complete it in less others more. so from $2250.00 for dual instruction, then there is ASC or USUA membership, ground school exam costs and learning materials which add up to approx $250.00. When you have completed the local area solos we need to get back into dual instruction for those exciting cross countries so another 3-5 hours may be necessary but you will also work on advanced flying skills cost $450.00 - $750.00.

You will need to consider when to purchase an aircraft and then how much to spend, for the very top of the line 4 cylinder 4 stroke you could pay $45-57,000. But on a budget you may be able to get a 1/4 share of a an ex demonstrator for $10-12,000. One thing to take into account that the sooner you have your own aircraft the cost of dual instruction reduced so sooner than later is the best choice.

So what is the total, around $3,250 will get you to a Sport Pilot (WSCL) rating less than half of the corresponding cost to learn to fly light aircraft. SO what next ? Book a flight, and experience the thrill of a truly awesome sport.
